The Arclight Project has grown through collaboration with a wide network of global health organisations, universities, NGOs, clinicians, and funders working to improve access to eye care training and technology worldwide.

Founding support

The Arclight Project was initially supported through seed funding from The Fred Hollows Foundation, whose early investment enabled development of the original Arclight ophthalmoscope and training programme.

Global partners and users

Arclight products and training resources are now used internationally by organisations including:

alongside ministries of health, universities, NGOs, and clinical training programmes worldwide.

International networks

The Arclight Project is a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). Dr Andrew Blaikie also serves as an IAPB board member.

Training and international recommendation

Arclight training resources are referenced within WHO eye care guidance and the WHO Eye and Vision Care Training Access Platform. A specialised eye health module using Arclight has also been integrated into the Tanzania UNICEF Integrated Management of Newborn and Childhood Illness (IMNCI) framework.

Funders and supporters

Support from organisations including UKRI, Rotary, Ulverscroft Foundation, Glaucoma UK, and the Scottish Funding Council has helped expand Arclight research, training, and implementation worldwide.
