ISO 13485 Certification

Arclight is proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 13485 certification for the design, development, and manufacture of our ophthalmoscopes and otoscopes, awarded by BSI (British Standards Institution).

This achievement strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality, affordable diagnostic tools at scale — and marks an important step forward in our mission to improve access to care where it is needed most.

Dr Andrew Blaikie Elected to IAPB Board of Trustees

Dr Andrew Blaikie has been elected as a Trustee on the board of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), of which the Arclight Project is a member.

In his new role, Dr Blaikie will represent the Arclight Project and support IAPB’s mission to eliminate avoidable blindness.

The Arclight Project has been selected as one of The Ophthalmologist’s Global Education Impact institutions for 2024, celebrating its dedication to expanding access to eye care education and diagnostics worldwide.

2023 NHS Global Citizenship Award – Dr Andrew Blaikie

Dr Andrew Blaikie was awarded the NHS Global Citizenship Award for his leading work to develop the Arclight, the innovative, solar-powered, ultra-low-cost diagnostic tool. Which provides access to critical eye care, preventing and diagnosing blindness in low-and-middle-income countries.
