Vacancy: Sessional Clinical Placement Tutors
The School of Medicine at the University of St Andrews wishes to engage some Sessional Clinical Placement Tutors committed to delivering high-quality medical education teaching in the placement setting. Applicants should have self-employed status and will be engaged as fees-paid consultants by the University.
The successful candidate or candidates will be expected to be capable of teaching clinical skills to medical students in the clinical environment. This will be for a series of whole-day placements, during academic semester time. We are particularly looking for sessional commitments on Tuesdays, with some potential availability on Fridays, ideally for the duration of a semester in the first instance
Candidates will normally be clinically qualified and be practising in a substantive clinical post, or about to start such a role, to qualify for the sessional posts. Exact dates and levels of commitment may be flexible and can be discussed with individual applicants. Excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange are essential. Informal enquiries can be directed to the MBChB Programme Director, Dr Rebecca Walmsley, at [email protected].
Applications are particularly welcome from people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and those with other protected characteristics who are under-represented in academic posts at the University.
Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the St Andrews experience and form a central pillar of the University Strategy. We celebrate diversity by promoting profiles of BAME, LGBTIQ+ staff and supporting networks including the Staff BAME Network; Staff with Disabilities Network; Staff LGBTIQ+ Network; and the Staff Parents & Carers Network.
