The fourth edition of Antibiotics Resistance Protocols, edited by Professor Stephen Gillespie, was published today. Part of Springer’s successful Methods in Molecular Biology book series, this edition showcases contributions from leading researchers worldwide, including innovations by colleagues in the Infection and Global Health Division.

Principal Research Fellow Dr Wilber Sabiiti reports novel application of the tuberculosis MBLA and Lecturer Dr Robert Hammond describes his innovative work using hollow fiber systems, testing innovative antibiotic combinations and photoactive compounds as antibiotic alternatives. Honorary Lecturer Dr Ruth Bowness describes the application of mathematical modelling in antibiotics research, while Professor Kishan Dholakia (School of Physic and Astronomy and Mackenzie Institute) outlines a fascinating method of studying bacterial physiology and response to antibiotics in real time using a microfluidic acoustic Raman spectroscopy platform. Professor Gillespie hopes the book will match the success of its third edition, which achieved over 20,000 chapter downloads!
