Stephen E. Mshana

Stephen E. Mshana is a Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Consultant Clinical Microbiologist at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), and the Bugando Medical Centre (BMC). Prof Mshana holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Master of Medicine (M.Med) from Makerere University and a PhD from Saint Augustine University of Tanzania. He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor- Academic, Research and consultancy (DVC-ARC) at CUHAS. He is also a member of National antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Multi-sectoral Coordinating Committee (MCC). To date, he has mentored a good number of undergraduate, masters and PhD students in the field of infectious diseases.

Prof. Mshana is currently serving as associate editor and reviewer in a number of International journals. His research interests include epidemiology of infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology of multi-drug resistant pathogens focusing on gram negative bacteria and other pathogens of public health importance. He has contributed to and co-authored more than 150 scientific articles in peer review journals with Google Scholar h index of 36 and i10 index 85. Currently is co-investigator in number MRC-UK funded project such as: SNAP-AMR, HATUA, CARE etc.
