Neurogenetics Group attends BDA International Conference

From 20-21 June, the Neurogenetics Research Group had a successful trip to Guildford for the 13th British Dyslexia Association International Conference. The conference had more than 300 participants from all continents, bringing together researchers, clinicians, educators, and innovators.
Professor of Neurogenetics Silvia Paracchini chaired the scientific committee and the conference with BDA CEO Chivonne Preston. She also gave the closing keynote lecture. PhD students Krzysztof Marianski and Jiuqing Tang (visiting on a year-long Chinese Scholarship Council scholarship) gave oral presentations entitled “What has genetics ever done for us?” and “Comorbidity of phonological deficits in Chinese mathematical difficulty and reading difficulty” respectively. Visiting Scholar Dr Alessandro Gialluisi (Assistant Professor, University of Insubria) presented Genetic and Functional Genomics Studies of Reading (Dis)Ability and Comorbid Disorders,” a large international project led by the Neurogenetics Group.
Prior to the conference, Prof. Paracchini and Research Coordinator Gillian Stirton hosted a very productive in-person satellite meeting for the Specific Learning Difficulties Network (SLDN).
