Biography
I am a MD student in Dr Robert Hammond’s group, co-supervised by Prof Peter Donnelly and Prof Anthony Coates. My project revolves around developing novel cardiac, immunological and imaging biomarkers for the clinical risk stratification of COVID-19 patients. My research interest first came about whilst serving on the “pandemic frontline” in PPE. After seeing first-hand the atrocities this virus has committed to mankind, it brought about frustration and helplessness at first, which I had learned to re-channel into an avid motivation to improve how we manage this illness. The pursuit of research in this domain was therefore a natural step to take.
I feel lucky to have a strong and esteemed team of supervisors behind me, from whom I am always learning. St Andrews is a very stimulating place to study. Everyone is warm, friendly and supportive. The campus and the history are amazing, and with anything from world-class Golf to the beautiful beach just a short walk away, no wonder it topped the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2021. I look forward to an educational, productive and enjoyable time studying at St Andrews, and with a scope to build something greater.
In my spare time, I’m a keen gym goer, countryside explorer, but my favourite hobby by far is my family. Further and without a shadow of doubt, our toddler son keeps us on our feet more than any treadmills or rocky paths can ever do.
