Dr Warne and EAGLE Project collaborator Dr Andrew Murray (Chief Medical Officer for the PGA European Tour, Ladies European Tour, and Ryder Cup Europe) at the ‘Golf, Health and Performance’ event.

On 25 August, EAGLE Project Research Fellow Dr Sam Warne spoke at a ‘Golf, Health and Performance’ conference hosted by the R&A during the AIG Women’s Open. Delegates attended from the across the UK, as well as Finland, Switzerland, Netherlands, South Africa and the USA.

After a tour of the impressive player facilities, Dr Warne presented a selection of the EAGLE team’s latest findings from their pilot studies. This included qualitative data on programme experiences, outcomes, barriers and facilitators, and on the connection pathway process itself. This information had been collected through focus groups and surveys with participants, healthcare professionals and golf club staff. The presentation predominantly covered the participant focus groups and how the resulting feedback can be used to develop and enhance the programme during the project’s next, ‘upscaling’ stage.
