The School congratulates ScotGEM Academic Lead and Generalist Clinical Mentor (GCM) Dr Zoë McElhinney, Honorary Senior Lecturer Dr Lloyd Thompson, Honorary Lecturer Dr Kirsty Alexander and Professor Hugh Alberti (Newcastle University) on their receipt of the 2024 Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) Board Award.

This is the largest grant offered by ASME and is awarded to one high-quality research project per year which is strongly aligned to ASME’s strategic priorities.

The study (Scalability and Flexibility: Modifying Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships) will explore how delivering more than one model of longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) concurrently impacts placement capacity, resource use, and quality.
