Innovations in medical teaching
This theme incorporates research examining new and innovative teaching methods and therefore focuses on pedagogical research. This may cover teaching in clinical communication, anatomy, ethics and including assessment.

Interprofessional education
This area of research focuses on investigating the impact of interprofessional education (IPE) on collaborative practice and patient outcomes. IPE is defined as “occasions when members or students of two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care and services”. (CAIPE, 2016)

Wellbeing as a professional
This area of research involves research seeking to understand the wellbeing of medical students and doctors and the help seeking behaviour for challenges to wellbeing in these individuals. It also covers the relationship between professionalism and wellbeing.
Rural and remote teaching
This theme examines aspects of rural education including how to encourage medical students to enter rural practice but also examines aspects of remote teaching which is necessary if educational experiences occur in rural locations. It also involves the use of learning technology to support such remote teaching.
