It facilitates both the attainment of a senior clinical academic appointment and the award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;3_5,2_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;3_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>SCREDS Clinical Lecturer posts are registrar grade posts which offer academic training opportunities in addition to clinical training. The usual time allocation is 80% clinical training and 20% research training over the full period of the post.<\/p>\n<p>During the clinical lectureship, the research programme may be either focused on preparation for competitive entry to out-of-programme research (i.e. pre MD or PhD), or focussed on developing an area of research identified during a period of out of programme research.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;2_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/medicine.st-andrews.ac.uk\/stafcat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/90\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-15-184736.png&#8221; title_text=&#8221;Screenshot 2026-06-15 184736&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>SCREDS appointments are made by the University directly with assistance from the relevant postgraduate dean, and are funded either by <a href=\"https:\/\/publicservicesdelivery.scot\/\">Public Services Delivery Scotland<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nes.scot.nhs.uk\/\">formerly NES<\/a>) or by the University themselves. As the appointments are made jointly between the University and the local NHS board, the individuals are supported by University contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for a Clinical Lecturer in any specialty or research area (including general practice) are handled as a separate process outwith the national recruitment and selection process for admission to specialty training in Scotland &#8211; as such, there is no fixed timetable for recruitment to these appointments.<\/p>\n<p>The positions themselves provide \u2018in-programme\u2019 clinical specialty training as well as focussing on preparation for competitive entry to Phase (ii).
