Caroline Ngugi<\/h1>\n

Dr Caroline Ngugi is a Senior lecturer and Chairperson, Department of Medical Microbiology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, and technology (JKUAT). She has a BSc in Medical Microbiology,\u00a0magna cum laude<\/em>, from JKUAT, MSc. Molecular Medicine and PhD in Epidemiology from JKUAT with a research placement at the Institute of Applied Tumor Biology, Heidelberg University.<\/p>\n

Dr Ngugi is a founder member of the Kenya National Young Academy of Sciences. She also chairs the Innovation center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology under the Jica-ai-Japan Kenya project, she is a member of the JKUAT Ethical Review Committee. She serves in the Infectious and Parasitic Disease Research Program, Kenya. She is an affiliate of the African academy of Sciences and a fellow of the African Science Leadership Program. Her research interests are in early detection and diagnosis of cervical cancer as well as factors affecting uptake of cervical cancer screening. She is also involved in studying the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance expressed by microorganisms. Ngugi is also involved in community development programs and is currently serving as Chairman, Board of Management Githuya Secondary School, Gatundu, Kenya.<\/p>\n
