  • First interested in research: After being a Consultant Paediatrician for 10 years, started while in Africa
  • Current specialisation: Consultant Paediatrician, Senior Lecturer at University of St Andrews
  • Field of research: Global and Public health
  • Masters degree: Public health
  • Work in other countries: Worked at clinic in Malawi year-round, work in Lesotho
  • Attitudes to this type of job: Different commitments with different jobs – doctors to patients and researchers to funding bodies
  • Weekly rota: Monday to Friday clinic morning round until lunch, 1-2 afternoons a week in HIV clinic, would try to do research a few afternoons a week
  • Advice: Easier to do research in protected time, good time when you start specialising!
