She worked with\u00a0Infection and Global Health (IGH) Division members Principal Research Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/medicine\/people\/ws31\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Wilber Sabiiti<\/a>, Research Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/medicine\/people\/ihu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Im Hwa Um<\/a>, and Research Technician Natasha Walbaum.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ms Chukwu\u2019s visit comes in the context of the tuberculosis (TB) research collaboration between IGH\u00a0and the\u00a0<span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/ihvnigeria.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN)<\/a><\/span><\/span><span><span>. Scottish Funding Council support secured through the Research Impact and Innovations Services Enabler (RIISE) has enabled expansion of this collaboration\u00a0to include\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nvri.gov.ng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nigeria\u2019s National Institute of Veterinary Institute (NVRI)<\/a><\/span><\/span><span><span>\u00a0and the\u00a0University of Jos. The focus of this work is on addressing tuberculosis as a zoonotic disease affecting both humans and animals, particularly cattle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During her visit, Ms Chukwu used the St Andrews-developed\u00a0<span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.st-andrews.ac.uk\/news\/innovative-diagnostic-test-for-tuberculosis-could-save-millions-of-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TB-MBLA test<\/a><\/span><\/span><span><span>\u00a0to study tissue\u00a0from cattle, revealing\u00a0that TB can affect almost every organ of the body.
