The Academic Intersectionality Mentoring in Medical Schools scheme (AIMMS) is a new national initiative that aims to support the career development of women from\u00a0Black,\u00a0Asian,\u00a0and ethnic minority backgrounds\u00a0towards equal and authentic leadership in academic medicine and health sciences.\u202f\u00a0The School of Medicine is a founding member, along with eight other UK medical schools and the Academy of Medical Sciences.<\/p>\n

In the first phase, the aim is to\u202fconnect\u202fwomen from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds through a\u202fmentoring\u202for peer support\u202fpartnership.<\/p>\n

Director of Inclusion for the school, Dr John Winpenny said \u201cI am grateful to our very own Dr Jane Illes who has been involved in this initiative since its inception. I am very supportive of this initiative and hope to see it grow both within the school and nationally.\u201d<\/p>\n
