Racial and cultural diversity is evident within the University and more specifically, within the School of Medicine. The <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">School<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> endeavour<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> for this diversity to be reflected in teaching practice.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Limbs and Things are a UK-based business, which provides clinical-skills models for students of clinical education across the globe, including medical students at St Andrew&#8217;s. With a vision of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> delivering<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">state of the art learning tools<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, these models provide means for students to practice medical procedure<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and are repeatable, anatomically accurate and cost-effective training solutions.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Up until <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">recently, these models were uniform and did not reflect racial diversity.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Seeing an opportunity to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">improve<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">equality and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> diversity in teaching<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Clinical Skills <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">team <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at the University of St Andrews,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> along with input from students,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> recognised the need to have a more diverse range of models<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> available. The team<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">approached Limbs and Things with the idea<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ffer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> models <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> different types and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> varying skin tones<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Limbs and Things, excited by this opportunity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">recently <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">began to produce darker-skinned models. The School of Medicine <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">secured <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a number of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> new models in four different types since June 2020,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> which will be used by their students in clinical training.
