Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Metal Ions in Medicine team (<a href=\"https:\/\/synergy.st-andrews.ac.uk\/metalion\/\">https:\/\/synergy.st-andrews.ac.uk\/metalion\/<\/a>) attended the 2019 Zinc-net meeting in Cambridge, UK.\u00a0 This International meeting focussed on investigating the role of zinc in biological systems. Dr Samantha Pitt gave the opening plenary lecture.\u00a0 The title of her talk was \u201cAltered Zn<sup>2+<\/sup> homeostasis in Niemann-Pick C1 disease results in impaired NAADP-mediated lysosomal Ca<sup>2+<\/sup>-dynamics\u201d. Dr Alan Stewart gave a talk titled \u201cInfluence of free fatty acids on plasma zinc handling by albumin: Impact on coagulation in type II diabetes\u201d.
