The meeting took place in March 2017 at the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1574\" src=\"https:\/\/synergy.st-andrews.ac.uk\/globalhealth\/files\/2017\/04\/Picture1-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" \/>In attendance were;<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Blaikie, Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine, St Andrews<\/p>\n<p>Martin Feelisch, Professor of Translational Evolutionary Biology, University of Southampton<\/p>\n<p>Kerry Jones, Senior Lecturer, MRC Nutrition Unit, Cambridge<\/p>\n<p>Gordon\u00a0Plant, Neurologist, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery<\/p>\n<p>Richard Bowman, Senior Lecturer, International Centre for Eye Health<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Burton, Professor of ophthalmology, International Centre for Eye Health<\/p>\n<p>Kazim Dhalla, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania<\/p>\n<p>Richard Weller, Senior Lecturer, University of Edinburgh<\/p>\n<p>The team decided on a program of implementation work on TEON for the next 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the process of raising awareness of TEON Dr Blaikie presented the current pathological hypothesis of the disease at the National Neuro-ophthalmology Meeting in York in March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Blaikie coordinated an inaugural meeting of the TEON Research Group.
