A May 2023 Chemical Science article co-authored by School staff and students was recently selected for inclusion in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2023 ‘Most popular chemical biology articles’ collection. The article, entitled ‘Structural and biochemical characterisation of Co2+-binding sites on serum albumins and their interplay with fatty acids,’ was co-authored by reader Dr Alan Stewart, Research Fellow Dr Remi Fritzen, then-Research Fellow Dr Swati Arya, and then-PhD student Dongmei Wu. Their findings offered further support for the idea that ischemia-modified albumin corresponds to albumin with excessive fatty-acid loading. They also provided a comprehensive understanding of the molecular underpinnings governing Co2+ binding to serum albumin. Congratulations, all!
