The University of St Andrews continues its successful participation of the Modern Apprenticeships programme with the recent appointment of Emma Stewart at the School of Medicine. Emma, a local to St Andrews, begins a two year Digital Support Modern Apprentice where she will work with different service units in the School as well as having the opportunity for placements in other university departments. While Emma learns on the job by helping with the day to day running of the School, she will participate in projects, receive mentoring and training from members of the Professional Services team and also work towards an SCQF Level 6 Digital Applications qualification delivered by tech training and skills provider, QA. Emma will be assigned an assessor at QA who will support her through the apprenticeship by developing a learning journey to compliment the work she will be doing at the School.

Emma stated: “I have always been keen to work at the University of St Andrews…it’s my hometown and I know many people who have worked for the university and loved it. I’m looking forward to meeting new people as well as learning and gaining experience which will help me with my future career.”

Kara Kinnaird, PA to Head of School and Dean of Medicine, who is working closely with Emma said: “My colleagues and I are delighted to have Emma join us. The Modern Apprenticeships at the University of St Andrews provide an ideal entry point for a career in higher education administration. We look forward to supporting Emma in her professional development.”
