Academic Primary Care Evening

The Academic Primary Care Evening was held on Thursday 3rdNovember after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event brought together colleagues involved in primary care education and research from Fife and beyond. Following a convivial welcome reception, updates on the BSc and ScotGEM courses were delivered by Dr Rebecca Walmsley and Professor Jon Dowell, while Professor Frank Sullivan gave an update on primary care focused research within the School of Medicine. Delegates were also treated to an informative talk on ‘Arclight’ by guest speaker Dr Sirjhun Patel.

Attendees then participated in interactive sessions in the clinical skills suite, focused on developments within the school over the last two years. These included progress in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the recent Inclusive Curriculum Review, demonstration of ultrasound in teaching anatomy, and teaching remote consulting skills to medical students. The School of Medicine were delighted to host this event and to bring together colleagues in person to network and share their experiences and ideas related to primary care teaching and research.
