Anatomy of achievement: Students and staff triumph at IAS conference

Congratulations to third-year BSc student Fergus Jajdelski, Prosector Olly Kovaljova, and Assistant Prosector Humayra Bakar on their success at this year’s Institute of Anatomical Sciences (IAS) Autumn Scientific Meeting! Held at the Royal Veterinary College in London from 2-3 September, this event brought together anatomy professionals from across the globe to network and hear about the latest advances in the field. The meeting also gave attendees an opportunity to submit entries for various prizes in advance, with the winners and runners up announced at the meeting. All competition entries, which included both human and veterinary dissections, were judged by a panel of experienced anatomists against published criteria, technical and intellectual complexity and usefulness as a teaching aid.
Fergus received a merit for his IAS Student Dissection Prize entry, ‘Arteries and Nerves of the Forearm & Hand with an Anomalous Arterial Ring,’ completed as part of his summer project. Humayra also received a merit for her Marjorie England Dissection Prize entry, ‘Arteries of the Head and Neck, Including the Facial Nerve,’ while Olly’s ‘Human Autonomic Nervous System’ was named the winner. Well done, all!
