We focus on how bacterial pathogens establish complex relationships with their hosts, employing diverse strategies for attachment, invasion, immune modulation, and evolution through horizontal gene transfer of mobile genetic elements. By investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions from both the host and pathogen perspectives, we aim to unlock the secrets of host adaptation, survival within the host, and immune manipulation that leads to successful pathogen establishment. This knowledge empowers us to design better preventative and treatment strategies, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
