Josie Murray

Josie has worked in the NHS for over 20 years. She qualified as a nurse, before training in postgraduate medicine to be a consultant in Public Health. Josie has worked in the community and hospitals. Her public health roles include providing leadership to the local and national covid-19 response, with her research being the first in the world to demonstrate that the covid-19 vaccines worked. When she isn’t researching, she works as a consultant in public health for NHS Education for Scotland. She also spends time with her family, friends, and enjoys singing!

Josie is using this study as part fo her PhD, and is supervised by Dr Veronica O’Carroll, who has expertise in Interprofessional Collaboration. She is also supported by two academic GPs, Dr Virginia Hernandez Snatigo, and Prof Frank Sullivan.

The Collaborative Advisory Team are a self-selected group of lay advisors for this project.

They provide a public perspective to all planned study activity, and provide a sounding board for the study design and processes.
They also provide patient and carer perspectives from their individual and collective life experience.
They are not and do not seek to be representative of the study population, but provide insight and perspectives.
This provides helpful advice to the researchers to ensure the project is relevant, meaningful and remains this way.
They meet four times a year and work via email in-between times.
