This is despite us knowing that people with multiple long-term health conditions spend more time in hospital, have a lower quality of life and often die earlier than people with only one condition. There can be lots of uncertainty – particularly around how conditions are managed and care is coordinated.

We want to better understand what it is like to live with multiple health conditions at the end of life and how people use healthcare services. This will allow us to identify areas within our pre-existing health services that we can improve upon or help generate new ideas to deliver care better at this important part of people’s lives.

Therefore, we have designed EMBED – Experiences of MultimorBidity at the EnD of life. It is made up of 3 main parts described in our Projects section. Key to this work is our public involvement with our Public Advisory Group, you can meet them in our Public Advisory Group section. This research is being undertaken as part of the Multimorbidity Doctoral Training Programme for Health Professionals by Dr Sarah Bowers, supported by her 5 supervisors who you are introduced in our Research Team section.
