NEW PUBLICATION!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are thrilled to announce that our latest paper has now been accepted and published in BMC Primary Care!<\/p>\n

\u201cWalking around the golf course is the exercise you need\u201d: Exploring the acceptability of a golf on referral scheme amongst participants through post-programme focus groups<\/em>‘ covers our work with participants following the pilot phases of the EAGLE project, where we sat and discussed experiences, barriers and facilitators, positives, improvements and challenges in two focus group settings.<\/p>\n

In addition to highlighting and discussing our findings, we end the paper with a short segment about what the results mean in practice – and the learnings that should be taken from it. There were 5 key recommendations that we spotlighted for the design and delivery of future golf-based social prescribing interventions:<\/p>\n

    EAGLE Phase II Evaluation Complete!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    We’re pleased to say that following two further pilot schemes at clubs across Fife, we have successfully conducted our qualitative evaluation of how it went. Thank you to everyone who participated in the programmes themselves, and again to all of our associates and colleagues who helped to run the events, to connect participants with the scheme, and to spread the word. It would not have been possible without you!<\/p>\n

    We’re now working away in the background to analyse all the feedback that we’ve received from yourselves, and the stakeholders at every stage, to work out where we can further develop the programme, so that we truly can achieve an efficient and effective Golf for Health programme, that is deliverable, sustainable and successful.     EAGLE moves into Phase II\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The project has now entered the next phase. While Phase I was focused on the development of social prescribing of golf, Phase II will focus now on the feasibility.<\/p>\n

    The full title for Phase II, while still incorporating the EAGLE project name, will be “Fea<\/strong>sibility study of a social prescribing<\/strong> of gol<\/strong>f sche<\/strong>me.” Phase II of the research programme will take place in Fife in 2022. It aims to assess the acceptability and feasibility of implementing the social prescribing of the golf scheme, comprising the connection pathways and the golf packages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    EAGLE takes off – first co-design sessions are run with volunteers and GP Practices across Fife<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Thank you to all of our volunteers who took part in our scoping survey and those who joined us at our co-design sessions over the past week to discuss how patients from GP practices could be connected to free golf packages offered by local golf clubs. Important steps are being made towards developing a social prescribing initiative in Fife to help promote physical activity in adults and provide a community-based opportunity to improve physical and mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n
