For over 20 years, Professor Baldacchino has undertaken and led work to profile the characteristics of people experiencing drug-related deaths in NHS Tayside, NHS Fife, and across Scotland in a series of reports designed to inform policy, service, and patient-level responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since an initial analysis on drug deaths occurring in 2003 for the Scottish Executive (now Scottish Government), these reports have explored a range of personal, health, social, and substance-related characteristics across several domains relevant to understanding and preventing drug-related deaths including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This data-driven work was amongst the first in Scotland to explore the personal, clinical, social, and substance-related drivers for drug-related mortality to inform systemic and whole-person responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
