Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope<\/h3>\n

To expand the examination repertoire of eye care professionals in resource poor settings the team has developed a pocket sized binocular indirect ophthalmoscope.<\/p>\n

A comprehensive study demonstrated it to be equivalent in quality of view to a traditional more expensive spectacle mounted device.<\/p>\n

Work is on-going in evaluating the impact of both DR & ROP workshops amongst mid-level eye care workers using the BIO and the tailored hemi-spherical simulation eyes described above.<\/p>\n

This tool now opens the possibility of delivering scalable diabetic (DR) and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening in regions where there is currently no service provision.<\/p>\n
