Teaching: Inspections and Grades

When it comes to student satisfaction, St Andrews School of Medicine is hard to beat!

We have consistently come top or near the top of the table for student satisfaction for several years now. In the 2011 National Student Survey, St Andrews School of Medicine scored 94% for overall satisfaction with the course.

St Andrews Medical School's BSc Honours programme meets the requirements of the General Medical Council (GMC) who, in their 2008 report, commented: 'We consider the supportive atmosphere and ethos to be an integral part of the course'. The GMC also commended the School on various areas of innovation and good practice, including excellent links with NHS Fife, the depth of anatomy teaching, the breadth of dissertation topics and the development of high quality clinical and communication skills teaching.

In addition, an internal review conducted in May 2011 reported that there was 'broad confidence in learning and teaching in the School of Medicine' (the highest level of approval!). This review also highlighted, amongst other aspects, the School's devoted and enthusiastic teaching staff, the strong scientific basis of its curriculum and the excellent facilities.
