Research Grant Awards



The School has been successful in obtaining £10,000 from Quality Assurance Agency for a project bid on research teaching linkages. The project’s lead investigator is Dr Simon Guild and the co-applicants are Prof Gerry Humphris, Dr Anita Laidlaw, Dr Jim Aiton and Julie Struthers.

Dr Gozde Ozakinci - National Cancer Research Institute Supportive and Palliative Care (SuPaC), Research Collaboratives Capacity Building Grant scheme funded a 2-year research study on the further development of AFTER (Adjustment to the Fears,Threat, and Expectation of Recurrence) Intervention for cancer patients with raised fears of recurrence (£78,271). The project's lead investigator is Dr.Gozde Ozakinci and the co-applicants are Prof. Gerry Humphris and Prof. Michael Sharpe (Director of Edinburgh Psychological Medicine and Symptoms Research group).

Peter Bryant - Breast Cancer Research Awards - in conjunction with Andrew Riches and Douglas Adamson (Clinical Oncology, Ninewells Hospital) have been awarded two grants from the Chief Scientists Office (Scottish Executive Health Department) and the Breast Cancer Campaign to support pilot projects into markers and mechanisms underlying susceptibility to (sporadic) breast cancer.
