In April Lindsey Forbes, a final-year PhD student supervised by Dr Melissa Andrews and Dr Simon Powis, attended the Festival of Neuroscience, organised by the British Neuroscience Association in conjunction with The Physiological Society.
Dr Silvia Paracchini attended the Young Academy of Scotland spring plenary which was held on 21st April in the Scottish Government Buildings.

Dr Silvia Paracchini organised and chaired a symposium at the recent Festival of Neuroscience (BNA2017) organised by the British Neuroscience Association, held in Birmingham 10-13 April.
Hosted as part of the 6th East African Health and Scientific Research Conference and International trade fair the symposium was co-chaired by Dr. Wilber Sabiiti and Dr. Helen Meme of Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
Dr Wilber Sabiiti has recently given a series of talks and training in different African countries showcasing the advantages of the molecular bacterial load assay (MBLA) and TWENDE work on developing model for rapid uptake of health research innovations into policy and practice.
On Saturday Feb 18th, the St Andrews Surgical Society welcomed delegates to the first ever Global Surgery conference in St Andrews.
Dr Blaikie coordinated an inaugural meeting of the TEON Research Group. The meeting took place in March 2017 at the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London.
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh have awarded their Bruce Medal to the College’s Professor of Anatomy, Professor David Sinclair at the recent College diploma ceremony.
